Od 29. svibnja do 5. lipnja na otoku Vis, u gradu Komiža, održat će se Mares UWPM World Masters, jedno od najprestižnijih međunarodnih natjecanja u podvodnoj fotografiji i videu koje okuplja vrhunske podvodne vizualne umjetnike iz cijelog svijeta.

Natjecanje organizira Ronilački klub Roniti se mora, a u Komižu dovodi izbor vrhunskih podvodnih fotografa iz cijelog svijeta koji će tijekom višednevnog programa kroz niz ronilačkih zarona stvarati jedinstvene fotografije inspirirane ljepotom i bioraznolikošću hrvatskog podmorja.

Podvodna fotografija i video predstavljaju specifičnu sportsku disciplinu koja objedinjuje vrhunsku ronilačku spremnost, tehničko znanje i umjetnički izričaj. Natjecatelji će svoje radove stvarati na odabranim ronilačkim lokacijama oko otoka Visa, s ciljem prikazivanja bogatstva i očuvanosti Jadranskog mora te jedinstvenog prirodnog ambijenta ovog dijela Hrvatske.

Program natjecanja uključuje registraciju sudionika, trening dane, službeni natjecateljski dio kroz više zarona, ocjenjivanje radova od strane međunarodnog stručnog žirija te završnu svečanost na kojoj će biti proglašeni pobjednici i prikazane najbolje fotografije i video radovi nastali tijekom natjecanja.

Poseban dio programa bit će i edukativne radionice te stručna predavanja o sigurnosti u ronjenju, suvremenim tehnikama podvodne fotografije i videa te etičkom i odgovornom ponašanju u podmorju.

Završnog dana manifestacije održat će se projekcija pobjedničkih radova i svečana dodjela nagrada, a publika će imati priliku vidjeti i izložbu najboljih fotografija nastalih tijekom natjecanja.

Fotografije i video materijali snimljeni tijekom događanja bit će predstavljeni u međunarodnim medijima, specijaliziranim časopisima i digitalnim platformama, čime se dodatno promoviraju prirodne ljepote Jadranskog mora te Republika Hrvatska kao vrhunska ronilačka i turistička destinacija.

Organizatori ističu kako Mares UWPM World Masters nije samo sportsko natjecanje, već i međunarodna platforma koja kroz umjetnost podvodne fotografije i videa promiče očuvanje mora, odgovorno ronjenje i globalnu promociju hrvatskog podmorja.

Očekuje se da će ovaj događaj dodatno pozicionirati otok Vis i grad Komižu kao jednu od najatraktivnijih ronilačkih destinacija na Mediteranu te potvrditi organizacijske kapacitete Hrvatske za održavanje velikih međunarodnih ronilačkih i sportskih događanja.

Prema planu i programu organizatora, ovogodišnja sezona podvodne fotografije u Hrvatskoj nastavlja se i održavanjem jubilarnog desetog natjecanja Mares UWPM Cup, koje će se održati od 11. do 13. rujna 2026. na otoku Rab. Riječ je o još jednom značajnom I velikom međunarodnom natjecanju u podvodnoj fotografiji koje se već dugi niz godina uspješno održava na tom otoku i okuplja brojne vrhunske podvodne fotografe iz regije i Europe.

Natjecanje se odvija u iznimno atraktivnom i biološki bogatom akvatoriju otoka Raba, poznatom po raznolikosti podmorskih staništa, izvrsnoj vidljivosti i iznimnim uvjetima za podvodnu fotografiju. Upravo zbog tih prirodnih karakteristika, Rab je tijekom godina postao jedno od prepoznatljivih mjesta susreta podvodnih fotografa te važna točka na karti regionalnih ronilačkih i fotografskih događanja.

Organizatori ističu kako se kroz ova dva događanja - Mares UWPM World Masters na otoku Visu i Mares UWPM Cup na otoku Rab dodatno jača međunarodna promocija hrvatskog podmorja te potvrđuje potencijal Hrvatske kao jedne od vodećih destinacija za podvodnu fotografiju i ronilački turizam na Mediteranu.

From May 29 to June 5, on the island of Vis, in the town of Komiža, the Mares UWPM World Masters will be held — one of the most prestigious international underwater photography and video competitions, bringing together top underwater visual artists from around the world.

The competition is organized by the diving club Roniti se mora, and it brings a selection of top‑level underwater photographers from around the world to Komiža. Over the course of a multi-day program, they will create unique photographs inspired by the beauty and biodiversity of the Croatian underwater world through a series of diving dives.

Underwater photography and video represent a specific sporting discipline that combines elite diving fitness, technical knowledge, and artistic expression. Competitors will create their works at selected dive sites around the island of Vis, with the aim of showcasing the richness and pristine condition of the Adriatic Sea and the unique natural environment of this part of Croatia.

The competition program includes participant registration, training days, the official competitive segment across multiple dives, judging of works by an international expert jury, and a closing ceremony at which winners will be announced and the best photographs and video works created during the competition will be presented.

A special part of the program will also include educational workshops and expert lectures on diving safety, modern underwater photography and video techniques, and ethical and responsible behavior underwater.

On the final day of the event, a screening of the winning works and an awards ceremony will take place, and the audience will also have the opportunity to view an exhibition of the best photographs taken during the competition.

The photographs and video materials captured during the event will be featured in international media, specialized magazines, and digital platforms, further promoting the natural beauty of the Adriatic Sea and the Republic of Croatia as a premier diving and tourism destination.

According to the organizers' plans and schedule, this year's underwater photography season in Croatia continues with the jubilee tenth edition of the Mares UWPM Cup, to be held from September 11 to 13, 2026, on the island of Rab. This is another significant and large international underwater photography competition that has been successfully held on that island for many years and attracts numerous top underwater photographers from the region and Europe.

The competition takes place in the exceptionally attractive and biologically rich waters of the island of Rab, known for the diversity of its underwater habitats, excellent visibility, and outstanding conditions for underwater photography. Precisely because of these natural characteristics, Rab has over the years become one of the recognized gathering places for underwater photographers and an important point on the map of regional diving and photography events.

The organizers emphasize that through these two events — the Mares UWPM World Masters on the island of Vis and the Mares UWPM Cup on the island of Rab — the international promotion of the Croatian seabed is further strengthened, and Croatia's potential as one of the leading destinations for underwater photography and diving tourism in the Mediterranean is confirmed.
